Shepherd's Pie Hot Dish


Prepped and baked all in one skillet for easy clean up, this family classic is updated with
a Tater Tot® topping instead of mashed potatoes.

What You Need

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion 
  • 1 can (14.5 oz.) Del Monte® Diced Tomatoes, drained
  • 1 can (14.5 oz.) Del Monte® Cut Green Beans, drained
  • 1 jar (12 oz.) beef gravy
  • 1 tsp. dried rosemary, crushed 
  • 4 cups (16 oz.) frozen Ore-Ida® Tater Tots®
  • ½ to 1 cup shredded white Cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese, optional


  1. HEAT oven to 425oF.  Cook ground beef with onion in a large oven-proof skillet over medium-high heat until beef is no longer pink; drain.
  2. STIR in tomatoes, green beans, gravy and rosemary, mixing well. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat and top with Tater Tots®. 
  3. BAKE until sauce is bubbly and Tater Tots® are golden brown, about 30 to 35 minutes.  Sprinkle with cheese, if desired.
