Firecracker Hot Dogs

This festive take on hot dogs will make your grilling spread sparkle and pop.

What You Need

  • 1 can refrigerated breadstick dough
  • 16 hot dogs
  • 16 thick slices colby cheese
  • 16 skewers
  • Star cookie cutter

Instructions

  1. PREHEAT oven to 350ºF. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. PIERCE a skewer through the center of the hot dog length-wise, leaving about an inch and a half exposed out of the top.
  3. WRAP a piece of breadstick dough in a spiral shape around the hot dog from top to bottom, leaving gaps in between each spiral. Repeat with the rest of the hot dogs and lay them on the baking sheet.
  4. BAKE hot dogs for about 20 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown.
  5. USE the star cookie cutter to cut out stars approximately 1 inch in diameter. When the hot dogs are cool, place 1 cheese star at the top of each hot dog skewer.
  6. To display, stick the firecracker hot dogs into a Styrofoam block to make them stand up. Serve with ketchup and mustard.
