Grilled Pineapple Appetizers with a Sweet-Tart Sauce

Summary

The pineapple becomes a delicious treat on the grill; it adds a refreshing sweetness and juiciness. Fresh pineapples should have green rigid leaves and be firm and solid. Ripe pineapple is exceedingly juicy and has a tangy sweet-tart flavor

What You Need

  • 6 slices fresh pineapple, with skin and core removed, 1/2 inch thick
  • 1/4 cup Lea & Perrins® The Original Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp. fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 tsp. fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a small mixing bowl combine all ingredients except pineapple slices. Mix well to incorporate the honey.
  2. Dip pineapple slices in sauce and place on grill. Grill for 5 to 6 minutes each side, brushing with remaining sauce.
  3. Serve cut into pieces and pick with a toothpick for appetizer.
Variation

Serve grilled slices with chicken, ham, pork or fish. Can substitute pineapple with star fruit. Add other fruits to pick for variety.
